Can send, but not receive, emails

Until recently I could send and receive emails with no problems. Now I cannot send, only receive, and get an error message when I try to send.

Check that the SMTP port Outlook Express is using is set to 25. Open Outlook Express, click Tools, Accounts. Click on Mail, select your mail account from the list and click Properties. Click on the Advanced tab and make sure that the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP)' server port number is 25.
